Install XBMC Media Center on Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin/Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot/Linux Mint 12 Lisa/Linux Mint 13

Install XBMC using medibuntu repository packages, the ubuntu restricted extras and xbmc on Ubuntu 11.10 oneiric ocelot.
You need to install xbmc from script because there are PPA's available for installation of XBMC on Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot/Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin/Ubuntu 11.04/10.10/10.04/9.10/9.04/8.04/Linux Mint 12/Linux Mint 13.

When installing XBMC it also install the medibuntu packages and Ubuntu restricted extras.

>> Method 1 to Install XBMC on Ubuntu 11.10:

To Install in Ubuntu 11.10/Linux Mint 12 open Terminal (Press Ctrl+Alt+T) and copy the following commands in the Terminal:

sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras

sudo apt-get update

sudo wget --output-document=/etc/apt/sources.list.d/medibuntu.list http://www.medibuntu.org/sources.list.d/$(lsb_release -cs).list && sudo apt-get --quiet update && sudo apt-get --yes --quiet --allow-unauthenticated install medibuntu-keyring && sudo apt-get --quiet update

Now adding maverick ppa and installing XBMC enter following commands in Terminal:

echo deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/team-xbmc/ppa/ubuntu maverick main | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/xbmc.list

sudo apt-key adv --keyserver hkp://keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys 91E7EE5E

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install xbmc

This following PPA is for XBMC Eden 11.0 PRE (unstable)
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:team-xbmc/unstable

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:alexandr-surkov/xbmc
This following PPA is for XBMC Eden 11.0 PRE (unstable)
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:alexandr-surkov/xbmc-pvr
This following PPA is for XBMC Eden 11 (Official)
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:team-xbmc/ppa
Then install
sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install xbmc

To install XBMC on Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin open Terminal (Press Ctrl+Alt+T) and copy the following commands in the Terminal: (You don't need to enter all PPA's)

To install XBMC Dharma 11.0 PRE (unstable)
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:alexandr-surkov/xbmc-pvr

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install xbmc tvheadend
The Following PPA for XBMC Dharma 10.1, ohne PVR
sudo apt-add-repository ppa:nathan-renniewaldock/xbmc-old-stable
The Following PPA for XBMC Eden 11.0 (Stable) (Recommended)
sudo apt-add-repository ppa:nathan-renniewaldock/xbmc-stable
Then Install
sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install xbmc
