Instal PlexyDesk widgets in Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty/12.04 Precise/Linux Mint 17/13/other Ubuntu derivatives

As you may know that KDE offers widgets for desktop and now Cinnamon offer too, but what about other desktops? So here comes PlexyDesk utility which offers lightweight widgets for desktop. PlexyDesk is a desktop extension which allows user organize and use desktop efficiently. It is powered by Nokia Qt Framework and lets user customize their Desktop with QML and it's C++ API. Apart from this, PlexyDesk also lets you make theme packs (Skins) for your desktop using QML and you can share it with everyone.
PlexyDesk offers ultimate desktop experience that manage all information with a touch and render it on workspace just like KDE widgets, and it support multi touch screens. The aim of the PlexyDesk project is to create "A Desktop which is easy to communicate with, Create and Simply cool!"

Change wallpaper by just Drag 'n' Drop

Features of PlexyDesk:
  • Fully supports Qt QML.
  • Provides support for Qt/3D.
  • Dbus API for changing the wallpaper on Linux.
  • PlexyDesk widgets can be programmed with shader programs (GLSL).
  • API for writing data models, and C++ widget plugins.
  • Various Utility widgets (like a Clock, File browser, and Photo Frame).
  • Change your desktop wallpaper by dragging and dropping any image you like from your file manager.
It works fine under Unity, Gnome, Xfce, Cinnamon and Mate as I tested. It is still under development so there can be missing things.

To install PlexyDesk in Ubuntu 14.04/12.04/Linux Mint 17/13 open Terminal (Press Ctrl+Alt+T) and copy the following commands in the Terminal:

If you want to add it to start-up then open 'Start-up Application' > Add new item > type plexydesk in 'name' & 'command' field.PlexyDesk has its own PPA but only support 12.04/11.10/11.04/10.10.
