WhatsApp messenger is quite popular nearly 1 billion users use this application. It uses the Internet to send text messages, documents, images, video, user location and audio messages to other users using standard cellular mobile numbers. Currently WhatsApp is owned by Facebook and previous founders have some interesting story, WhatsApp was founded in 2009 by Brian Acton and Jan Koum, both former employees of Yahoo. After Koum and Acton left Yahoo in September 2007, the duo traveled to South America as a break from work. At one point they applied for jobs at Facebook but were rejected and in 2014 WhatsApp was acquired by Facebook for approximately US$19.3 billion.

Whatsie is a simple, free, open source desktop client for WhatsApp web, it is cross-platform available for Linux, Windows and OS X.
