You can even use Faenza icon set with Vertex icon theme, simply open '/usr/share/icons/Vertex-Icons/index.theme' file as root and find this line "Inherits=Moka, gnome, hicolor" and replace with this one "Inherits=Faenza, gnome, hicolor", you don't have to set Faenza icon theme just install it and set Vertex Icons from Tweak Tool. If you encounter any issue with this icon pack then submit issue here. You can use Unity Tweak ToolGnome-tweak-tool or Ubuntu-Tweak to change icons.

If you’ve ever traveled abroad or visited a place where certain websites are blocked, then you know how important it is to have a reliable VPN service. VPNs have grown in popularity over the past few years and for good reason: as people become more aware of the risks associated with their online privacy, they want a way to protect it.

VPNs stand for virtual private networks. They help protect your personal info by encrypting your Internet traffic and anonymizing your personal data. When you connect to a specific VPN server, the IP address becomes your own, and websites think you’re actually in that country.

While they’ve extremely popular among Internet security experts for years, they’re beginning to grow in popularity other demographics, mainly those who tend to travel abroad or those who want to unblock geographically restricted content. Whatever your reasoning may be, it seems like privacy services like VPNs are essential.

But while VPNs are traditionally used to protect your privacy and unblock restricted content, there are others ways they can be used as well.

Here are a few tips to help make the most out of your VPN.

You Can Use a VPN to Save Money on Car Rentals, Flights, and Even Hotels!

Because most pricing websites set their prices based on users’ geographic location, you can actually find cheaper rates by using a VPN. Crazy, right? It’s called ‘price discrimination’, and it’s been happening for years. Fortunately, you can bypass these geographically hiked prices and find the cheapest rates with a VPN.

Here’s how it works:
  • Set your Internet Browser toIncognito Mode and connect to any particular server location.
  • Look up the sites you’re trying to rent from and check their prices.
  • Now close and reopen your incognito browser, deleting the cookies from the sites you visit.
  • Connect to a different VPN location, and search the same sites for prices.

It’s as simple as that! You can check different VPN server locations to find amazing deals. In fact, some people have reported saving thousands of dollars on trips by simply checking prices through different VPN server locations.

You Can Use Your VPN to Help Boost Internet Speeds.

Sometimes VPNs slow your Internet connection, but other times they speed it up. That’s because VPNs encrypt your connection—thereby bypassing common problems like Internet throttling, which usually results in decreased speeds.

If you’re using a paid VPN subscription (and I suggest you do), you should also have the option to switch between protocol options to help improve your browsing. Most VPN services offer three options: OpenVPN, PPTP, and L2TP. PPTP usually offers the highest speeds, so on the off chance you’re experiencing slowed connections, try switching to that.

You Can Use Your VPN to Make Public Hotspots Secure.

Public places like airports, coffee shops, and restaurants usually offer free Internet. They’re also notorious for having paper-thin security measures. Just last year theEconomic Times published an article on how dangerous public Wi-Fi is. The fact you’re sharing a network with countless other people means your data is at risk.

Luckily, a VPN keeps you safe from these kinds of networks by routing your Internet activity through a separate network. You’re able to browse public Wi-Fi, but you’re surfing secure. Next time you connect to your local coffee shop’s Wi-Fi, make sure your VPN is on and take full advantage of the public network while remaining completely anonymous.

You Can Even Use Your VPN to Create an Entire Privacy Network.

One of the best things about VPNs is the fact that they work on almost any platform. However, not all VPNs work the same. ExpressVPN is a choice in that it works the same on some Internet-enabled platform, some other famous VPNs are OpenVPN, Hotspot Shield, CyberGhost and so on. You can connect most VPNs to your iPhone, your Windows computer, you can even use a VPN router to interconnect all your various devices at once.

With a VPN, you’re able to turn your once-vulnerable home network into an impenetrable fortress.

Use these tips and take full advantage of your VPN. Let us know if you have any tips, tricks, or secrets of your own!

In the technology world, there has been a constant battle between the operating systems of Windows and Linux, ever since their creation. Of course, each side has its staunch followers, those who will go to their technological graces swearing this system over the other. But in terms of objective argumentation, there hardly seems to be any lists or explanations for preference of one system over the other. Not to be the one to do that, this article explores further why Linux is of course, the best operating system available and why exactly it blows the abilities of other operating systems far out of the water.

Besides just basically being a better wholesome operating system that Windows could ever hope to be, Linux has some carefully designed features that no matter how hard Windows tries, can never best. One of these is ease of use or in other words, a great user interface. Linux is possibly one of the easiest, if not the easiest of all time, desktop operating systems to use. It’s simple to navigate, is praised continually for its user friendly features, it’s a constantly updating system, it’s flexible. The list could go on and on. It offers many personalization and customization options so if you don’t like the desktop layout that is given, you can change it to suit your needs.

Another perk of using the Linux operating systems is its server capabilities. The servers associated with the Linux operating systems are notoriously fast, secure, highly configurable and scalable. That last quality is above the rest, it is what sets apart Linux and Windows in terms of servers. Linux is a great choice for people who are developers, and it's widely used as web server.

In terms of preventing security breaches, Linux is always the better option to other operating systems. Although it is not without its own faults, when Linux operating systems detect an error or some exploit, they are fast to institute repairs and patches. On the other hand, other operating systems are designed with too many holes in terms of security and they take eons too long to release updates to fix them. Such is not the issue with a Linux operating system. It is still susceptible to attacks but the deciding factor between Linux and other operating systems in terms of this feature is that Linux community is quite fast fix the problems as they found.

Already mentioned before but necessary to mention once again is the extreme degree of flexibility that Linux offers its users. Unlike Windows where there is only one way to perform or complete a task, Linux offers several. This extends the operating systems flexibility well beyond that of just the desktop as mentioned above. Linux not only expands on this single-mindedness of Windows but explodes it, turning it into a realm of limitless technological options and abilities.

Another area in which Linux far outperforms other operating systems is in that of its support community. For Windows, they have the Microsoft campus, MCSE’s and then the plethora of third-party software sites that attempt to take advantage of those plagued by problems using the Microsoft Windows operating systems, and for Mac there are some sites too. But with Linux, the company and its operating systems have always been designed around community. They have various mailing groups, lists, forums, and some sites like NoobsLab, all designed to help users of Linux when they have problems. Accessible and above all else, understandable, these help forums far exceed those of Microsoft and are for all people of all ages, types and technological abilities, no handbook necessary.

Linux is not however, a perfect operating system. Thankfully, the programmers and software developers at Linux have come up with efficient and lasting solutions that help Linux be the best operating system it can be. Such an area in which Linux has shown quite dedicated improvement and a general degree of success is making their software work in conjunction with other devices. Many people have experienced issues in the past with using wireless printers, tablets, phones and computers that are all made by different companies, together. But by making a product that works well with other devices, Linux is able to cement its place as one of the best operating systems on the market today as this ability to use devices regardless of manufacturer in tandem with each other is a very necessary and desirable feat.

Is there anything else you can add? Let us all know what you have to say!

UNIX is the moniker given to the family of trademarked multitasking multiuser computer operating systems that were originally part of the AT&T Unix program that was developed in the early 1970's. This operating system was originally devised by a team of researchers at the Bell Labs research center that included Ken Thompson and Dennis Richie. Created in mind initially for AT&T, the operating system was later loaned out to several outside parties in the latter half of 1970's.

HandBrake is a tool for converting video from nearly any format to a selection of modern, widely supported codecs. HandBrake is a video converter program intended to both rip and convert video files to work on a number of supported devices. The basic features of HandBrake are straightforward so that a beginner can easily rip a DVD or convert a file. In less than a minute, we were able to convert an AVI file into an MP4. Obviously small files take less time to convert than a full length DVD but that doesn’t diminish the fact that basic conversions are easy to navigate in HandBrake.
