NVIDIA is well-known company all over the world regarding gaming cards. Sometimes it is really difficult to configure manufacturer drivers for NVIDIA cards in Linux, there could be many reasons for this such as kernel upgrade, and so. By default Ubuntu use the open source video driver Nouveau for NVIDIA graphics card. This driver lacks support for 3D acceleration and may not work with the very latest video cards or technologies from NVIDIA. An alternative to Nouveau are the closed source unified NVIDIA drivers, which are developed by NVIDIA. This driver provides excellent 3D acceleration and video card support.

Conky is a free, light-weight system monitor for X, that displays any information on your desktop. Conky is licensed under the GPL and runs on Linux and BSD. Conky can display this info either as text, or using simple progress bars and graph widgets, with different fonts and colours. Conky is able to monitor many system variables including CPU, memory, swap, disk space, temperature, top, upload, download, system messages, and much more. It is extremely configurable, however, the configuration can be a little hard to understand. Conky is a fork of torsmo.
You can check previously shared conky versions for Linux desktop. Flair conky offers you two versions dark and light, you can choose whatever suites your desktop wallpaper. I made installation easy as much as I could for everybody, installation script is semi-automated which means you don't need to bother with installation instead you just need to choose some options (interactively) from setup, I hope no one will get any problem with it. It can work for all Linux desktops environments like (Gnome Shell, Unity, Cinnamon, Gnome Classic, XFCE, Mate, and others). This conky shows Date/Time, CPU and Memory info, acpi temp, Internet upload/download speed and shows total data transfer. I dropped PPA support for conky because many user reported problems, so as usual I picked up only wget script installation method because it can work with most of the Linux distributions without any problem and interactive semi-automatic setup makes stuff easy.

Fotoxx is a free Linux program for editing photos or other images and managing a large collection. Images can be viewed in scrollable pages of thumbnails (variable size) or singly in a large window. Linux Mint team announced the latest release of Linux Mint version 17.2 code-named "Rafaela", it is updated version based on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, and Linux Mint 17.2 now features Cinnamon 2.6/Mate 1.10, MDM 2.0, a Linux kernel 3.16 and an Ubuntu 14.04 package base. Linux Mint 17.2 will receive security updates until 2019. Until 2016, future versions of Linux Mint will use the same package base as Linux Mint 17.2, making it trivial for people to upgrade. Until 2016, the development team won't start working on a new base and will be fully focused on this one. It comes with updated software and brings refinements and many new features to make your desktop experience more comfortable to use.
"A huge amount of work was done to review the CPU usage in various parts of Cinnamon and many improvements were made. Performance was gained by optimizing how Cinnamon reacts to particular events and reducing the number of tasks or repeated tasks it performs. Support for multiple monitors was improved. Better window list actions and new key-bindings allow you to move windows to other monitors (Super+Shift with arrow keys by default). But the most significant improvement is that you can now have multiple panels and place them across multiple monitors. Yawls stands for Yet Another Webcam Light Sensor, it is a small Java program created for Ubuntu, it adjust the brightness level of your display by using the internal/externel webcam of your notebook as an ambient light sensor, that uses the OpenCV Library and designed to comfort and save energy of your laptop battery. Yawls can also be used from command line interface and run itself as a system daemon, two times a minute it runs and adjusts the brightness of the notebook screen with reference to the ambient brightness. It doesn't engage webcam constantly, as mentioned above in a 30 seconds interval it uses the webcam and leave it for other programs to use. The interval time can be adjust from GUI or from config file if you are using CLI version
It also has face detection option which can be useful if you sits in dark room and yawls can adjust screens brightness as per your needs, by default this option is disabled, you can enable if you intend to use it. After very first installation you must calibrate yawls otherwise it may not function properly. If it causes problem somewhere between usage then re-calibrate it. If you found any kind of bug in the application then report it via github or launchpad.
