Gnome Flashback (previously called GNOME fallback mode) is a session for Gnome 3 which was initially called "Gnome Fallback", and available as a stand-alone session in Debian and Ubuntu. It provides a similar user experience to the Gnome 2.x series sessions. It consists of the following components: GnomePanel, Metacity, GnomeApplets, and etc. It doesn't use 3D acceleration at all, so it's generally faster and less CPU intensive than GNOME Shell/other desktops with llvmpipe.
The GNOME Session Manager is in charge of starting the core components of the GNOME desktop, and applications that should be launched at login time. It also features a way to save and restore currently running applications. This is a transitional package to ease upgrades to gnome-session-flashback. It can be safely removed.

Dive Into Python

Python from novice to pro, Whether you're an experienced programmer looking to get into Python or grizzled Python veteran who remembers the days when you had to import the string module, Dive Into Python is your 'desert island' Python book.

Python is a widely used general-purpose, high-level programming language. Its design philosophy emphasizes code readability, and its syntax allows programmers to express concepts in fewer lines of code than would be possible in languages such as C. The language provides constructs intended to enable clear programs on both a small and large scale.
Python supports multiple programming paradigms, including object-oriented, imperative and functional programming or procedural styles. It features a dynamic type system and automatic memory management and has a large and comprehensive standard library.
Like other dynamic languages, Python is often used as a scripting language, but is also used in a wide range of non-scripting contexts. Using third-party tools, such as Py2exe, or Pyinstaller, Python code can be packaged into standalone executable programs. Python interpreters are available for many operating systems.

Fritzing is an open-source hardware initiative that makes electronics accessible as a creative material for anyone. Aimed at users who want to produce or document circuits and experiments, one starts by building a physical prototype, then recreating it with Fritzing's graphical editor. From there one can generate a schematic, PCB artwork, and PCB production files.
The Fritzing company offer a software tool, a community website and services in the spirit of Processing and Arduino, fostering a creative ecosystem that allows users to document their prototypes, share them with others, teach electronics in a classroom, and layout and manufacture professional pcbs.

Nightingale is a free and open-source desktop audio player and web-browser, it is fork of the Songbird media player. It has beautiful interface with a wide range of supported audio formats including flac, all with multi-platform support (Linux, Windows, and Mac). It supports extensions and skins feathers. Like Firefox/Iceweasel, it is built from the Mozilla cross-platform and open source framework, based on Songbird. Users can add features and change functionality in Nightingale by installing extensions (add-ons).
Skins are referred to as "feathers" in Nightingale, and give users and artists the ability to change the look of Nightingale via an extension which generates a default skin. Using CSS (and optionally XUL), and an image manipulation program such as Photoshop or GIMP, users are then able to make Nightingale look however they want.
