Malys released new well designed theme for Gnome Shell, Previous Malys released Malys-Rought dark theme for GTK and these themes are specially designed for those users who like dark themes.

Howto Enable Gnome-Shell Themes in Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric/Linux Mint 12

Many people complains about Gnome-Shell theme, they can't select theme in Gnome-Tweak-Tool. So I decided to make a small tutorial on this problem. It is not so difficult to enable themes for gnome-shell.

Install Gnome Tweak Tool with following command:

To enable themes on Gnome-Shell open Terminal (Press Ctrl+Alt+T or Press Alt+F2 and type: gnome-terminal) and copy the following commands in the Terminal:

Gnome-Shell-Extensions-User-Theme.deb
Now enter following commands (During installation it will give errors, Don't worry about them)
logout and login back, Change your themes.

Plastiq Gnome Shell Theme for Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin/Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot/Linux Mint Lisa 12/Fedora

Installation of Theme:
  • Type in Terminal: "sudo nautilus"
  • Backup /usr/share/gnome-shell/theme folder
  • Extract the archive and rename gnome-shell to theme
  • Copy this folder to /usr/share/gnome-shell/
  • Restart Gnome Shell by hitting Alt+F2, then type r and press enter
  • You can also use Gnome Tweak Tool to install directly from zip file
You can also install theme selector extension and use gnome tweak tool to switch themes. Follow the instructions below (for Ubuntu 11.10):
  • Run the following command: sudo apt-get install git-core
  • Install Gnome Tweak Tool by running following command: sudo apt-get install gnome-tweak-tool
  • Download Gnome Shell extensions by running following command: git clone git://git.gnome.org/gnome-shell-extensions
  • Now access the directory from terminal by running following command: cd gnome-shell-extensions/
  • Finally run this command to install the extension: ./autogen.sh --prefix=$HOME/.local --enable-extensions="user-theme"
  • Logout, come back and use Gnome Tweak Tool to switch themes.

Install Android Gnome Shell Theme for Ubuntu 12.04/11.10/Fedora/Linux Mint 12 Lisa

Installation of Theme:

Gnome-Shell Theme created with an inspiration from one wallpaper that was sent to me as a token gift from liquidsky64. The android wall is included in this theme folder.
