PS3 Media Server is a DLNA-compliant UPnP Media Server and it is cross-platform Media Server available for supports all major operating systems, with versions for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X because it is written in Java. Originally written to support the PlayStation 3, PS3 Media Server has been expanded to support a range of other media renderers, including smartphones, TVs, music players and more. The MPlayer and FFmpeg packages support the PS3 Media Server.
The program streams or trans-codes many different media formats with little or no configuration. It is powered by MEncoder, FFmpeg, tsMuxeR and AviSynth, which combine to offer support for a wide range of media formats. It features no codec packs to install, no folder configuration and pre-parsing or this kind of annoying thing, all your folders are directly browsed by the PS3, there is an automatic refresh, and real-time video transcoding via MEncoder.
